What are the source of Chinese medicine from nature

Based on the different sources of Chinese medicinal materials, Chinese medicine can be divided into the following three categories: plant-based medicines, animal-based medicines, and mineral-based medicines.
  • Plant-based Medicines: These are the most common and come from various parts of plants, including roots, stems, seeds, fruits, entire herbs, flowers, and resins. Examples of herbs in this category include magnolia flower, patchouli, ephedra, mint, perilla, pinellia, and dried tangerine peel.
  • Animal-based Medicines: These are medicinal materials derived from animals, including humans. For example, human breast milk and "zi he che" (placenta) are used, the latter containing placental extract. Other examples include cicada molting, silkworm, centipede, scorpion, viper, earthworm, turtle shell, oyster shell, and blister beetle.
Mineral-based Medicines: These refer to medicinal materials sourced from natural minerals, such as gypsum, mirabilite, cinnabar, alum, borax, hematite, calcite, and pumice.
